Buffalo General Hospital Failed My Mother

Warning to all the elderly people in Buffalo (my beloved city for 55 years) and their family members...

If your elderly loved one needs emergency care, please know at Buffalo General they will be delegated to the bottom of the list, regardless if they were transported by ambulance. 

My almost 88 year old mom (I was with her) spent 14 HOURS in the ER at Buffalo General Medical Center (main city hospital), with little care. This was after she was transported by ambulance, which should've taken priority. 

When I arrived minutes after my mom, they brought her into the general waiting room of the hospital. Yes, you read that correctly! She was not taken to a room or evaluated before being dumped in the waiting room. This is unacceptable! Finally after 8+ hours, my mom was taken to an ER room.

After enduring 10 hours of zero care, my poor mom was starving, so I grabbed her some Tim Horton's donut holes aka Tim Bits. She was elated and grateful, even though they were stale AF.

She was finely seen by a doctor and discharged to go home. I have no doubt I can and do take care of my mom way better than the Buffalo General hospital staff. She will not return unless absolutely necessary. I would rather drive my mom three hours to the Cleveland Clinic than take her to Buffalo General again.

I have words for this grossly mismanaged hospital. I have a lot of words. The health care treatment of elderly folks at Buffalo General is reprehensible. Also, there were numerous vacant rooms in the ER. Buffalo General Medical Center Kaleida Health - you should be ashamed of yourselves! I have no doubt, you would not put your mother through this gross lack of timely treatment. Shame on you all! 

On an upnote, my mom is mending at home and getting better every day. She is getting superior care at home with her daughter, who has zero medical background. That says volumes about Buffalo General Hospital... now called Buffalo General Medical Center.
